Alejo Vidal-Quadras invites his models to talk, learns their mannerisms and captures one of their facial expressions, albeit fleeting, nevertheless true. In just two sessions of one hour each, he finishes a portrait in charcoal. According to him, the artist must go beyond appearance and convey something of the model’s personality and character: “A portrait reflects a timeless personality.”
